As an LGBTQ community we have suffered through discrimination and intolerance, which has contributed to a greater set of health disparities for our community that we are just beginning to understand. The importance of coming out to your healthcare provider is critical to ensuring you are receiving the best care possible. It is also equally important to find a healthcare provider that is LGBTQ friendly and culturally competent.
