When I first started transitioning, I didn’t want to go to a doctor for hormone therapy — in fact, I could barely find anyone who even offered it.
So I followed the lead of other transgender girls I knew and got my estrogen and testosterone blockers from them. But I gave myself too much of both, which actually ended up doubling the testosterone in my body and made me more masculine.
When it comes to your health, you can’t “do-it-yourself.” Be out and be open with your doctors. Like any relationship or friendship, it might take some time to be fully comfortable, but you’ll be better off. That’s what happened to me.
