One of my friends actually got a call that someone he was involved with contracted HIV. At that point, I felt like I needed to tell my healthcare provider, so that way, they would know the situation and understand what was going on.

People are scared to be themselves and I think if you can’t be honest with yourself, you can’t be honest with anyone else.

The healthcare provider I was recommended to came from a coworker that is also homosexual. I felt comfortable because they assessed me as a person, versus my sexuality.

The experience was very positive and moving forward, I would only see a provider that is open and honest and would be open to accepting members of the LGBTQ community.

There are things that you may be exposed to in the homosexual community that you may not exposed to in the heterosexual community. It’s important to let your provider know your sexuality, it’s you being honest with yourself.
